Despite the NHL pause for the 4 Nations Face-Off, Alex Ovechkin opted to train in Miami with former NHL player Darius Kasparaitis. After a challenging recovery from a fractured fibula, Ovechkin aims to stay sharp for the remaining 27 games of the season. He values the break not only for physical conditioning but for mental resetting. Ovechkin hopes to recapture his successful scoring streak while enjoying family time and reconnecting with former teammates during this period.
I think especially when I get hurt, I don't skate much during that break and it was hard to me, coming back on the ice. I don't want to lose that touch, lose that skating ability, so it was nice and thankful for him.
I think everybody was tired, lots of hockey, lots of practice and now restart your brain and get ready for the second half and most important, for playoffs.
