TLOU Boss Neil Druckmann Says He Doesn't Have The Confidence To Plan Ahead For Sequels
Briefly

Neil Druckmann, co-writer and director at Naughty Dog, explained at the DICE Summit that he does not plan for sequels when developing games. Acknowledging that working on a single game is all-consuming, he believes thinking about future installments can be detrimental. He prefers to focus solely on the game at hand, incorporating any exciting ideas into it without saving concepts for sequels. Druckmann's approach to character development relies on continuously finding new directions for characters, even jokingly suggesting he would kill off characters who stagnate.
That's a very easy question for me to answer, because I never think about multiple games because the game in front of us is so all-consuming.
If there's a cool idea, I'm doing my best to get it into here. I'm not saving some idea for the future.
When we made Uncharted 1, we had no idea we would do the train sequence of Uncharted 2, or where Nathan Drake would be.
If we don't have a new answer the character won't move forward, I jokingly say I would kill them off.
