The Switch 2 Shouldn't Lock Classic Nintendo Games Behind A Subscription Paywall
Briefly

Nintendo's current subscription model for accessing classic games through Switch Online, which began in 2018, has transitioned from a convenient service to an overpriced subscription. The addition of titles from NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, and other systems, bundled in multiple tiers, has raised annual fees to $50. Critics feel it's absurd to rent access to older games rather than purchase them outright, especially with Nintendo's history of offering downloadable titles since the Wii's Virtual Console.
It feels more than a little absurd that the only way to (legally) access these games in the year 2025 is to effectively rent them for an annual fee.
What started off as a welcome novelty has now become a bit of a ripoff. I'm long past the point of wanting a giant buffet of retro games.
