The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion's remake/remaster has been unofficially confirmed after screenshots surfaced online. Fans discovered these images on the Virtous website, which is leading the development, revealing major graphical improvements likely utilizing Unreal Engine 5. The screenshots were not private and were swiftly locked down post-discovery. Despite the project's apparent depth and quality, questions arise about the strategy of a shadow drop release. This major upgrade reflects long-standing hopes among fans for a modern revival of the classic RPG.
I checked the website, inspected a random image element in hope I could find something. Turns out they're using wordpress and the uploads-folder contains these images. Didn't really expect to find this though!
The remake/remaster is alleged to be running on Unreal Engine 5, indicating a significant overhaul compared to the original game.
Considering the amount of work that seems to have been put into this new version of the game, I do find myself questioning the reasoning behind shadow dropping Oblivion.
