Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws was not the success that it hoped it would be. The company said the game's initial sales "proved softer than expected." Ubisoft did not, however, provide a specific sales figure for the game or reveal what its targets were in the first place.
In response to the lower-than-expected sales and player feedback, Ubisoft said its teams are now "fully mobilized to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience" ahead of the holidays. Ubisoft said it hopes Star Wars Outlaws can be a "strong long-term performer."
Additionally, Ubisoft confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will come to Steam on November 21. In fact, Ubisoft mentioned that it is returning to launching its new games across the board on Steam, after criticizing Steam's business model for years.
Ubisoft also noted that it held a meeting with its board of directors recently and concluded that it needed to reduce its earnings forecast for the fiscal year, due in part to Outlaws coming up short and the delay of Assassin's Creed Shadows.
