Splitgate 2 is yanked back to beta a month after release
Briefly

After a rushed initial release, Splitgate 2 is pulling back into development to focus on rebuilding key elements to retain the essence of the original game. Developer 1047 Games plans to rework game progression, add more portals, and simplify monetization, aiming for a 2026 launch. The company is also reducing costs by shutting down original Splitgate servers and laying off staff. The public response has been challenging, particularly following co-founder Ian Proulx's controversial appearance at Summer Games Fest, which many fans found disrespectful.
"We'll be heads down until early next year, rebuilding major parts of the game to capture the spirit of what made Splitgate special, which includes reworking progression from the ground up and adding more portals to our maps."
"The company said it will shut down the servers for the original Splitgate in order to reduce expenses and keep more of its team members employed."
