Sony is reportedly developing a new handheld console to compete with Nintendo and Xbox, potentially based on the PS Portal, capable of playing PS5 games.
The new machine would be based on the existing PS Portal, but would be a fully standalone device capable of playing PS5 games, similar to the Steam Deck.
Packing PS5 specs into a handheld machine at this stage seems unlikely, though the technology may be available and affordable by the time it launches.
With Xbox's Phil Spencer confirming they are working on their own handheld, Sony's initiative appears to be a strategic move to maintain relevance in the market.
