PlayStation celebrated its 30th anniversary with limited-time themes for PS5, reflecting the design of classic consoles like the PS1 through PS4. These themes will leave on January 31, but PlayStation hinted at bringing them back due to positive feedback from players. Although there won't be additional themes in the future, a significant demand exists for them, and gamers can currently only customize their PS5's Welcome Hub. Additionally, PlayStation is updating its policies around PSN accounts for PC, paired with leadership changes forthcoming.
Thank you for the fantastic response to the classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4 limited-time console themes, which will be leaving tomorrow. Due to the positive response on these 4 themes, we're doing some work behind the scenes to bring these special designs back in the months ahead.
Players were able to switch between different themes with elements of PlayStation's classic hardware through the years. The PS1 theme shows part of the original gray box and the PS2 theme references the console's 3D blocks.
