Nintendo Switch emulator Ryujinx taken offline
Briefly

A representative for Ryujinx posted on Discord alleging that Ryujinx's lead developer was "contacted by Nintendo and offered an agreement to stop working on the project" and to wipe it from the internet. This action closely follows Nintendo's earlier litigation against Yuzu, another emulator, suggesting a trend in Nintendo's approach to emulators. Now, the Ryujinx project has been removed with little clarity on future developments.
The Ryujinx emulator, which was operational on various systems including Windows and Linux, was compatible with more than 3,400 Nintendo Switch games. Now, however, many accessible links to its download and guides no longer work, illustrating the impact of Nintendo's pressures on developers and signaling a potential shift in how users may access such emulation software from here on.
One developer reflected on the Ryujinx project shutdown, saying on Discord, "I hope I was able to bring some joy to the people I helped over the years or with the (now gone) FAQ I wrote." This captures the sentiment among developers who feel a connection to their user base and recognize the joy emulators bring to players.
