Nintendo created Donkey Kong's biggest adventure by breaking everything
Briefly

Bananza's creation emphasizes the theme of destruction as a core gameplay experience. Directed by Kazuya Takahashi, the game builds on voxel technology utilized in Super Mario Odyssey, transitioning from concepts initially designed for the original Switch to those made possible by the Switch 2. The developers aim to explore a variety of destructible materials, enhancing the gameplay experience. This concept grows from a fundamental idea of Donkey Kong's attraction to breaking things, initially linked to cheese rather than bananas, allowing for more diverse and persistent destruction in the game.
"What we were really going for was this gameplay experience that comes from destruction," Bananza director Kazuya Takahashi says in an interview with The Verge.
"We had used voxel technology in Super Mario Odyssey," says Bananza producer Kenta Motokura. "For example, in the luncheon kingdom, you can dig through large piles of cheese, and in the snow kingdom, can plow your way through snow."
