Channing Dungey confirmed at MIPCOM that the writing team is established for the Harry Potter TV series, and casting calls have opened in the UK and Ireland.
Dungey expressed her excitement about diving deeper into J.K. Rowling's books: 'It's an unbelievable dream...the opportunity to explore them in a little bit more in-depth than you can in just a two-hour film.'
With plans for the series to span seven seasons, one for each book, the goal is a more thorough and nuanced retelling of Harry Potter's story.
Despite the ongoing casting process, HBO CEO Casey Bloys reminded everyone that the series is still in its writing phase and production is not expected to start until 2025.
