Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that production for The Batman: Part 2 is on track to begin this year after several delays pushed its release to October 2027.
Reeves expressed excitement about continuing the storyline while ensuring that fans will be surprised by the new direction the sequel will take, mentioning, "We're doing something that absolutely continues where the story comes, but it's something that I hope people will be surprised by."
The delays were primarily attributed to script finalization, as noted by Reeves: "Because we're still finishing the script, and there's been so many things going on. Next year is very much about getting into production."
James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, echoed Reeves’ sentiments about the production timeline and the reasoning behind the delays, confirming that the focus will shift to getting the movie underway.
