Fable Co-Developer Eidos Montreal Lays Off Staff, The Latest Cuts From Embracer
Briefly

Eidos Montreal has announced the layoff of 75 employees as part of the conclusion of one of its project mandates. The studio clarified that the decision does not reflect on the skills or dedication of those affected, pointing to limitations in reallocating staff to other projects. This move follows previous layoffs totaling 172 at Eidos Montreal due to corporate restructuring after ownership changes with Embracer Group. The studio, recognized for titles like Marvel's Avengers and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, is co-developing the highly anticipated new Fable game.
Today, we informed our studio staff that we are going to let go up to 75 valuable members, as one of our mandates is coming to an end. It is not a reflection of their dedication or skills, but unfortunately, we don't have the capacity to entirely reallocate them to our other ongoing projects and services.
These very talented, highly experienced experts are going to enter the employment market, and we are working to support them through this transition.
