Developers, here's why you need Ubisoft's free colourblind sim tool
Briefly

Ubisoft has launched Chroma, an open-source colorblind simulation tool designed for game developers to enhance accessibility for the 300 million colorblind individuals worldwide. Developed since 2021, Chroma overlays a filter on game screens to replicate colorblind vision. The tool uses the Color Oracle algorithm and is customizable with no impact on game performance. Ubisoft's Director of Accessibility, David Tisserand, expressed the tool's efficiency in assessing game accessibility, while QC Product Manager Jawad Shakil highlighted the collaboration with accessibility experts to eliminate inaccuracies, making testing smoother. Chroma is now available on GitHub.
Chroma has proven to be a highly efficient tool for us at Ubisoft. It has allowed us to assess the accessibility of our games for colorblind players much faster and more comprehensively than ever before.
Chroma was created with a clear purpose - making color blindness accessibility a natural part of the creative and testing process. The team faced and overcame significant challenges while building it.
