Sony has canceled a live-service game in development by Bend Studio, known for its 2019 release, Days Gone. Community manager Kevin McAllister thanked fans and reassured them that the team aims to create new projects. These cancellations align with Sony's revised strategy of focusing on fewer live-service games, dropping from twelve to six. Following a recent review, the company also terminated other projects, including a multiplayer game, Concord. Despite the disappointing news, Bend plans to develop a new IP in the future, and a Days Gone movie is in the works.
Thanks for the love and support everyone, especially to those that have reached out. P.S. We still plan on creating cool sh**.
Sony confirmed the game cancellations in a statement to Bloomberg recently, saying the projects were scuttled 'following a recent review.'
Plenty of games that begin development are never seen through to release; this is part of the normal creative process.
In June 2024, Bend said the studio was making a new IP, which could have been the canceled live-service game.
