Larian Studios has announced an important mix-up regarding the release of Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3, which unintentionally became accessible to certain PlayStation 5 users in Europe and Asia. This early access poses risks, as saves made while on Patch 8 will not be compatible with Patch 7. The studio urged players to uninstall and reinstall to revert. Patch 8 will enhance the gaming experience with cross-play and various fixes. A formal stress test for Patch 8 is set to occur later this week for selected players only.
Larian acknowledged that Patch 8 was mistakenly available to some PS5 players in Europe and Asia and warned against saving progress, which may not be compatible.
Patch 8 will introduce cross-play across all platforms and include several enhancements such as in-game bug fixes and a new Photo Mode.
Larian emphasized that accessing Patch 8 was not an invitation for the stress test, which will commence later, and highlighted the importance of reverting to Patch 7.
Players selected for the stress test would receive a separate notification, while those without it should revert to Patch 7 to avoid losing their saves.
