Greptile, an AI code review startup founded by Dasksh Gupta in 2023, is raising $30 million in Series A at a $180 million valuation, led by Benchmark. The company, which went through Y Combinator, previously raised a $4 million seed round. Greptile's AI-powered bot complements human reviewers by identifying bugs and potential issues in customer code. In a competitive landscape featuring rivals like Graphite and Coderabbit, Gupta noted that employees work long hours, emphasizing that to outperform the competition, maximum effort is required, stating that mediocrity is not an option.
Gupta stated, "No one cares about the third-best company, or even the second-best company in any category in software. If you're going to put in 95 percent effort, it's the equivalent of putting in 0 percent effort."
The bot developed by Greptile acts as an experienced coworker, with a deep understanding of customer code, allowing it to identify bugs and issues that human reviewers might miss.
