"It's like having a bridge on your teeth. You don't want it there, but you get used to it," said 54-year-old Carmen Anderson, who describes the scaffolding as something she's "gone scaffolding-blind" to over the years. Despite some improvements with a few sheds coming down, the overall situation remained troubling, with pedestrians still facing an overwhelming presence of scaffolding on their daily routes.
"It's a constant game of whack-a-mole," local resident Mike McDermott said regarding the never-ending parade of scaffolding. Despite some being removed after political and media attention, it only results in temporary fixes as new ones invariably rise in their place.
