We're practicing UX Research wrong

One of the biggest lies we've been fed about the UX industry is that we need research in order to design good products and good UX. As someone who started designing before UX research-based philosophies were a mainstream thing, I think that's bull.
What I've found UX research to do, in the last decade or so, was to coddle and comfort the inexperienced and the anxious who fear failure. We've created an industry of cowards with UXR.
