The design work has little impact on value delivered in a pressure-driven environment. However, effective collaboration between PMs and UX can lead to significant product improvements. If PMs work with UX instead of at cross-purposes, the outcome is not just about better products but about transforming the entire product practice into a more holistic and effective approach.
