Design 'for' AI, instead of 'with' AI

Design 'for' AI, instead of 'with' AI
"Using AI to create layouts, images and templates, content creation, automation of processes at scale. Using AI to make designing and producing 'stuff' easier. And thats cool, for now. But in time a lot of the process, production and 'ops' part of design will be made redundant by this technology. And understanding how AI actually fits into product design, is the key to staying relevant in this industry"
"Anyone can use AI to make stuff, but soon AI will be both the designer and the user. So where does product design fit into this? DESIGN FOR THE AI. Understanding Agentic AI, and how synthetic user agents will identify and use data, is the real vibe code. Creating a new framework for how to design for a browser-less, layout-less, voice and text powered, hyper-minimal seamless experience, completely contextual and non linear."
Generative AI currently streamlines design workflows by producing layouts, imagery, templates and automating processes at scale. Many process, production and operations tasks in design will become redundant as AI capabilities advance. Product design must evolve from designing with AI to designing for AI, where AI acts as both designer and user. Agentic Experience Design (AXD) focuses on synthetic user agents, browser-less layout-less voice and text interactions, and hyper-minimal, contextual, non-linear experiences. Traditional personas and linear user journeys will be inadequate because a portion of users will be synthetic agents that reason and interact differently. Designers must create frameworks and pipelines optimized for agentic interactions across brief to delivery.
