In Almaty, a 388-square-foot apartment's transformation was completed by designer Fariz Mamedov. Initially described as a 'gray box with no signs of life,' he took on the challenge to create a vibrant home that reflected the owner's love for pop music and iconic design. Key to this redesign were strategic layout adjustments, including a separate bedroom and clever storage solutions. Mamedov opted for concrete flooring and aluminum perforated blinds, which enhanced the space's lightness and modernity, resulting in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere praised by the homeowner.
When I saw the size of the apartment and the client's wish list, I realized that it was an interesting challenge and an opportunity to express myself to the fullest.
In this project, I used several solutions that are not quite typical for our region. The first and main one is that I abandoned the traditional wooden floor in favor of a concrete one.
In addition, despite my love for curtains on the windows, in this project I decided to leave the walls and windows clean and light, giving preference to aluminum perforated blinds.
It's a completely different apartment, very bright and cozy.
