"What will stop them is when you blow them up, when you get rid of them,"
"There was massive amounts of drugs coming into our country to kill a lot of people, and, everybody fully understands that,"
"Obviously, they won't be doing it again. And I think a lot of other people won't be doing it again. When they watch that tape, they're going to say, 'Let's not do this.'"
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio vowed to continue strikes targeting drug cartels after a US operation killed 11 people by blowing up a speedboat in the Caribbean. The vessel was reportedly departing Venezuela and allegedly linked to the Tren de Aragua gang, which the US has designated a terrorist organization. Rubio described previous interdiction efforts in Latin America as ineffective and advocated destroying cartel vessels to halt illicit drug flows. Rubio met Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico City and both pledged increased cooperation while respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity. President Donald Trump defended the strike as a deterrent meant to make smugglers think twice.
