The U.S. Has a Great Warning System for Deadly Weather. Trump Wants to Destroy It.
"One theory is that this is designed to put pressure on the Governor of Colorado to allow the pardon Trump attempted to go through???!!!"
"Shutting NCAR would be a major setback for the entire community and would have impact for decades to come."
"The Colorado governor obviously isn't willing to work with the president."
"weak and pathetic man."
The White House announced that the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder will be broken up and some functions moved elsewhere. The announcement followed cancellation of $109 million in federal environmental and safety grants for Colorado and came one day after President Trump publicly insulted Colorado Governor Jared Polis. The dispute is linked to the jailing of former county election official Tina Peters and a reported White House view that the governor is unwilling to cooperate with the president. NCAR scientists expressed shock and warned that eliminating NCAR would set back climate and weather research for decades. NCAR, founded in 1960 and administered by the National Science Foundation, provides state-of-the-art data and technology resources.
