The Trump administration reverses its promise to publish key climate reports online
Briefly

The Trump administration has made it more difficult to access critical scientific assessments regarding climate change by taking down official government websites that hosted these reports. NASA announced it would not host the national climate assessments as previously promised, stating it was not legally obligated to do so. As a result, data from these assessments will not be available on NASA's platform. Scientists warn that this decision has severe implications for public safety and preparedness regarding climate-related disasters, as vital information necessary for adaptation will be less accessible.
On July 3, NASA put out a statement that said, "All preexisting reports will be hosted on the NASA website, ensuring continuity of reporting."
Bethany Stevens, NASA Press Secretary, stated, "The USGCRP met its statutory requirements by presenting its reports to Congress. NASA has no legal obligations to host globalchange.gov's data."
"This document was written for the American people, paid for by the taxpayers, and it contains vital information we need to keep ourselves safe in a changing climate," said climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe.
John Holdren accused the administration of outright lying and long intended to censor or bury scientific assessments on climate change.
