"America-first entry fee policies"
"continue to enjoy affordable access, while international visitors contribute their fair share to maintaining and improving our parks for future generations!"
"AMERICANS FIRST."
"There's a lot to unpack in this announcement, including many questions on its implementation - all which NPCA will raise with the Department of Interior,"
The National Park Service will charge international visitors an additional $100 to enter certain popular parks and exclude them from fee-free days reserved for U.S. residents. The policy applies to 11 parks, including the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Yosemite, and takes effect Jan. 1. Foreign annual park passes will increase to $250 while U.S. residents will continue to pay $80. The change responds to major staff reductions, severe budget cuts, damage from a recent government shutdown and lost fee revenue. Interior officials framed the move as protecting affordable access for U.S. taxpayers and follows a July executive order directing higher foreign entry fees.
