Sen. Murkowski on why she's having more talks than ever on the state of democracy
Briefly

In her new memoir, Sen. Lisa Murkowski reflects on her experiences as a moderate Republican who often challenges party lines. During an interview, she expressed her views on the Republicans' One Big Beautiful Bill Act, acknowledging some positive aspects but raising concerns over its impact on Medicaid, which is crucial for Alaskans. Murkowski stressed the need for effective Medicaid reforms to ensure that the vulnerable populations in her state receive the healthcare they need, highlighting her commitment to addressing important issues in her leadership role.
I don't refer to it as the big beautiful bill. It is big and I'm not quite sure it's beautiful yet. There are many aspects contained in the bill that I think are going to be important from a border perspective, from a defense perspective and from an energy perspective.
Medicaid is very important to so many in our state. I want to make sure that as we are looking to address some of the concerns that we know exist in Medicaid.
