Delaware lawmaker Sarah McBride, the first out trans congresswoman, criticized Republican lawmakers for their continued focus on her identity rather than political discourse. During a recent press conference, McBride reacted to GOP members misgendering her in a House hearing, asserting that they are overly obsessed with culture war issues. She emphasized that this distraction takes away from vital matters like improving government function and relieving American families from economic burdens. McBride contended that such behavior is counterproductive and reflects poorly on the GOP's priorities in legislative work.
I appear to live rent-free in the minds of some of my Republican colleagues. I wish that they would spend even a fraction of the time that they spend thinking about me thinking about how to lower the costs for American families.
It is weird and it is bizarre and the American people deserve serious legislative solutions, not this obsession with culture war issues.
