The settlement with Meta Platforms Inc. was based on allegations of unauthorized data sharing with third parties, including practices by Cambridge Analytica.
The eligibility for filing a claim was expanded to include any U.S. Facebook user from May 24, 2007 to Dec. 22, 2022, including deleted accounts.
This payment differs from a previous $90 million settlement regarding Facebook's tracking of users on non-Facebook websites without consent between April 2010 and September 2011.
