Los Gatos turns out for No Kings protests on Oct. 18
""We've gone through and been a large part of history, and we've seen what has happened in the past and we do not want to have the major problems that we foresee come about, so it's up to us to protest," Schain said."
""Making health insurance unavailable will have a terrible effect on peoples' health. ... Cutting off SNAP so children will be expected to learn at school when they have an empty stomach is cruel," Schain said."
""Trump and the government need to show that they care about people's needs.""
Several hundred people gathered on two busy Los Gatos streets for a No Kings protest, with drivers honking in support. The local rally, organized by Marian Schain at the Terraces of Los Gatos, included residents and family members expressing fear for the future and a desire to defend freedoms. Demonstrators opposed orders to deploy the National Guard and ICE to U.S. cities and criticized policies that would cut healthcare, environmental protections and education funding. Organizers and participants emphasized concerns about family separations, the health effects of losing insurance, and the cruelty of cutting SNAP benefits for children. The No Kings movement reported thousands of events nationwide.
