The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the Producer Price Index rose 6% in April compared with April 2025. The index increased 1.4% from the previous month, the largest month-to-month rise since 2022. The month-to-month increase nearly tripled the expected level. CNN data analyst Harry Enten reacted in disbelief to the new wholesale inflation figures. He said Trump’s approval ratings on inflation were among the worst he had ever seen. He also stated that in the last month Trump recorded the five worst inflation polls of any president in history. The figures followed a recent surge in consumer inflation to the highest level in three years.
