Iran and the United States have moved forward in their indirect nuclear negotiations, with a second round having been completed successfully in Rome. Senior negotiators Abbas Araghchi and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff engaged in four hours of talks, facilitated by Omanâs Foreign Minister. Both sides expressed optimism regarding the constructive atmosphere and reached a better understanding of certain principles. More technical-level talks are scheduled to occur soon, leading to another meeting of senior officials on April 26, as both parties seek to define their nuclear goals more clearly.
We succeeded in reaching a better understanding on certain principles and goals... The negotiations were conducted in a constructive atmosphere and are progressing.
There's no reason for excessive optimism or pessimism. I hope that after next week's technical sessions, we'll be in a better position.
