Social media strategist Dave McNamee noted that his meme thread depicting Vance as increasingly comical was motivated by audience engagement, leading to a rise in colorful, exaggerated imagery. The stark contrast in meme popularity highlights the unique nature of Vance's public persona compared to other political figures.
"I posted something about making him chubbier and rounder for every 1,000 likes, and that snowballed into a J.D. Vance body-horror thread that blew up," McNamee tells me over email.
These edits are not new; back in October, Representative Mike Collins's tweet in support of Vance included an attached image that had been altered to make his jawline and chin appear stronger and more pronounced.
