The Supreme Court concluded the president lacked authority under the International Economic Emergencies Power Act to impose the tariffs in a 6-3 decision. President Trump said he will use different authority to continue tariffs and called the decision a disgrace. States and small businesses had challenged the tariffs in court. Newsom characterized the tariffs as an illegal cash grab that raised prices, harmed working families, and urged immediate return of unlawfully collected funds.
