A tropical storm named Debby is expected to hit Florida's Big Bend area with near hurricane winds and life-threatening storm surges, dumping up to 15 inches of rain and causing surges of 3-to-5 ft above ground level.
Parts of three Gulf coast Florida counties issued evacuation orders, as the storm may bring powerful ocean surges that could damage structures and threaten areas like Bonita Beach northward to Tampa Bay.
