Derek Chauvin was the target of violence. He was duly convicted of his crimes and, like any incarcerated individual, he should be able to serve his sentence without fear of retaliation or violence.
A lawyer for Chauvin argued that he should be kept out of the general prison population, stating that Chauvin spent much of his time in solitary confinement for his own protection.
The Tucson prison where Chauvin is housed has faced scrutiny for its security measures.
