An ICE operation in Monrovia resulted in a tragedy when a man fleeing was struck and killed on Interstate 210. The incident began when ICE agents conducted enforcement activities near a Home Depot. As the raid unfolded, the man attempted to escape, crossing roads before being hit by a vehicle. Monrovia Fire & Rescue transported him to the hospital, but he later died. No ongoing ICE activities were reported in the area, and a traffic investigation is underway. The National Day Laborer Organizing Network identified him as an immigrant worker and condemned the violence associated with such operations.
This violence, chaos and terror must stop. ICE must leave our communities.
The worker was fleeing an unannounced raid by immigration agents, the latest in an ongoing wave of violent, chaotic kidnappings and assaults.
