"I feel like I'm living in 'To Kill a Mockingbird,'"
"I don't know how rational jurors could look at the evidence and say that Joshua Hubert was guilty in this case."
"I was thinking he wanted me dead,"
A 43-year-old Worcester man, Joshua Hubert, was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder, one count of strangulation or suffocation, and one count of kidnapping a child for an August 27, 2017 assault. Prosecutors allege Hubert choked, raped, placed a bag over the seven-year-old victim's head, and then threw her from the I-290 bridge over Lake Quinsigamond; the child survived and swam nearly 100 yards to shore. The victim, now 15, testified she feared for her life. Hubert was acquitted on two child-rape charges and had multiple trial delays since 2020.
