Venezuela has dismissed US allegations that recent deportees to El Salvador are connected to the Tren de Aragua criminal gang. Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello emphasized that the group is no longer functional, characterizing US claims as a strategy to stigmatize Venezuelan migrants. He voiced that the deportations, initiated under an ancient wartime law by President Trump, symbolize an ongoing war against Venezuela. Cabello also criticized El Salvador's President Bukele for cooperating with the US, labeling him a tool of imperialism while reaffirming that none of the deportees have ties to the alleged gang.
"What is the Tren de Aragua? It is a narrative to stigmatize a people," Cabello said in a podcast.
Cabello criticized Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, and denounced him as "an instrument of imperialism."
"This is a war against Venezuela," Cabello said. "It is a war against Venezuelan men and women that reaches its maximum expression when President Trump issues a proclamation based on a law from 1798."
Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello stated the US claims about deportees being linked to Tren de Aragua are part of a narrative to misrepresent migrants.
