Two wildfires, the South Fork fire, and the Salt Fire, were burning out of control in Southern New Mexico, forcing evacuations and impacting over 18,000 acres.
The fires, exacerbated by wind and low humidity, were challenging to contain, with crews focusing on structure protection and building dozer lines ahead of the fire front.
