The Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a report scrutinizing past intelligence on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. President Trump previously dismissed these findings as a "hoax." Recent statements by ODNI director Tulsi Gabbard claim overwhelming evidence of manipulated intelligence by Obama officials. Declassified materials include emails indicating that Russian interference was unlikely to alter vote totals directly. However, it was noted that such interference could erode public confidence in the election itself, consistent with cybersecurity warnings.
On Friday afternoon, ODNI published a press release asserting that its director, Tulsi Gabbard, "revealed overwhelming evidence" that President Obama and his national security officials "manufactured and politicized intelligence" to launch a "years-long coup against President Trump."
Among the materials Gabbard declassified are emails and memos published under the banner of the new "Director's Initiatives Group," formed to "execut[e] President Trump's Executive Orders aimed at rebuilding trust in the [Intelligence Community]."
Gabbard echoed conclusions across social media platforms X and Truth Social, and in interviews on Fox News in the days that followed.
There is no indication of a Russian threat to directly manipulate the actual vote count through cyber means," wrote an ODNI official whose name was redacted in a newly published email.
