Trump claims ceasefire reached between Israel and Iran
Briefly

US President Donald Trump claimed Iran and Israel agreed to a ceasefire amid ongoing conflict, following an Iranian missile attack on a US base. Trump praised both nations for their courage, suggesting a halt to hostilities that had escalated over 12 days. However, analysts point out the lack of confirmation from either country and express skepticism over Trump's prior claims and the feasibility of lasting peace. Key questions remain about future negotiations and potential escalations, as uncertainties loom following Trump's statement and ongoing military actions.
"On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, THE 12 DAY WAR," Trump said in a social media post.
"Trump's statement suggested that Iran would stop firing at Israel hours before the Israeli military ends its operations."
"Many details are missing from Trump's announcement, including whether negotiations would follow the purported ceasefire," noted Middle East analyst Omar Rahman.
"If that's the last operation, would that suddenly end the war? No, of course, not," Rahman told Al Jazeera.
