The deputy constable Maher Husseini was shot multiple times in his car at an intersection in Houston, and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Witnesses reported seeing the assailant flee in a charcoal-gray Chevrolet Impala. Descriptions of the shooter indicated a Middle Eastern male, about 5'9".
Noe Diaz, Chief of Police, confirmed they had detained a person of interest in connection with the shooting, although the motive remained unclear.
Mark Herman, the precinct 4 constable, clarified that while Deputy Husseini was wearing his gun belt and deputy pants, it was uncertain if he was in full uniform.
