Kevin Reid's childhood home featured a unique staircase made of pipe fittings, which he later saw gain attention on the popular Facebook group Death Stairs, revealing its quirky design to a global audience.
Reid remembered the staircase, saying, "I wouldn't do it in sock soles, but you can fairly rush down them and they make a nice ringing sound when you go down them."
The staircase serves as an interesting example of how ordinary elements of our upbringing can capture the imagination of the internet, especially in groups like Death Stairs.
While Reid's father built the staircase as part of a home addition, it wasn't until it became a part of the Death Stairs community that its unusual design was fully appreciated.
