Spirit Airlines files for bankruptcy protection but plans to keep flying
Briefly

Spirit Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection after years of financial difficulties, making it the first major U.S. airline to do so since 2011.
Despite filing for bankruptcy, Spirit Airlines assured customers that they can continue to book and fly without interruption during the restructuring process.
The airline has struggled to post profits since 2019 and failed merger attempts along with operational cutbacks are part of its restructuring plan.
In an open letter, Spirit emphasized their commitment to customer service, stating they expect to emerge from bankruptcy in 2025, ready to provide the best value.
