Refugee ban can't be enforced against those who received conditional approval, 9th Circuit says
Briefly

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that while the Trump administration can halt the approval of new refugees, it cannot prevent the entry of those who received conditional approval prior to the suspension of the refugee program on January 20. This ruling comes after U.S. District Judge Jamal N. Whitehead previously blocked Trump’s executive order, arguing it undermined congressional intention. The court emphasized the need for the government to process refugees whose applications were impacted by the ban, reaffirming the importance of established legal frameworks in refugee admissions.
The court affirmed that the government must continue processing and admitting eligible refugees whose lives were upended by President Trump's refugee ban.
In a Feb. 25 decision, U.S. District Judge Jamal N. Whitehead ruled the executive order for suspending the program effectively nullified congressional intent.
