Ravens owner followed 'instincts' in firing coach
"It was the craziest firing in the world,"
"I was the one choked up and he was the one consoling me."
"I just hope you respect me enough to know that 100% my instincts told me this was the time,"
"And I may be right, I may be wrong, but I did it because I'm in charge of doing it."
Steve Bisciotti apologized for firing John Harbaugh over the phone and described the moment as the "craziest firing in the world." Bisciotti said he had been contemplating the move for weeks, woke up the day after the season-ending loss to Pittsburgh "pretty sure" he would fire Harbaugh, and made the decision after Harbaugh left the facility. Bisciotti cited blown fourth-quarter leads and playoff underperformance as reasons. Since drafting Lamar Jackson in 2018, the Ravens have won 86 regular-season games but have not reached the Super Bowl, tying for the second-most wins in an eight-season span without a Super Bowl appearance. Bisciotti said his instincts told him the time was right and acknowledged he might be right or wrong.
