Jose Lequerica, 50, has been indicted for the murder of his wife, Asli Ak, who died due to severe injuries inflicted during a violent assault. The attack occurred on November 15, where Lequerica repeatedly struck Ak in their apartment. After leaving for two hours, he returned and failed to check on her before finally calling 911 the next day. Ak was pronounced brain-dead on November 20. An autopsy confirmed her death as a homicide due to blunt force trauma to the head.
The autopsy revealed that she had severe head injuries including a hematoma that caused swelling inside the head, crushing her brain stem.
Jose Lequerica has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the fatal beating of his wife, Asli Ak.
