Lance Chan, 61, was fatally shot around 9:40 p.m. on Helpert Court in Pleasanton. His son, Lucas Chan, 28, was taken into custody after the incident. Improvised explosive devices were discovered at Lucas's home, prompting involvement from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Witnesses reported that the shooting followed a verbal dispute. Lance Chan was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Lucas Chan was charged with murder and possession of a destructive device and is currently held in Santa Rita Jail.
