Opinion: A miracle amid the fire
Briefly

Amidst the painful loss of the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center due to the Eaton fire, a faint mural was revealed, showcasing life in ancient times. Congregant Kristine Garroway, a professor, interprets the mural as possibly depicting various moments from the Israelites' wilderness wanderings. Despite the loss, the community is determined to rebuild, having saved their 13 Torahs. The incident highlights resilience, as congregants reflect on the mural's history within the building, which has served various purposes since the 1920s, while also facing the impact of nearby home losses from the fire.
Seeing the mural is a true miracle. It doesn't matter that it wasn't painted for the synagogue, or that it is likely a made-up Biblical moment.
I initially thought it was a Biblical scene. I believe now the mural may be a compilation, to show various moments of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness.
